No Surprises Act
Under the No Surprise Act, you are entitled to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under this law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services when they schedule care or when the client requests an estimate. The Good Faith Estimate does not include unexpected costs that could arise such as cancellations and/or no-show fees. This estimate is not a contract and therefore does not obligate you to services.
While it is not possible for the dietitian to know, in advance, how many sessions may be necessary and appropriate for a given person, this document provides an estimate of the cost of services provided. Your total cost of services will depend upon the number and length of sessions you attend, as well as your individual circumstances.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, please reach out to us, and/or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
